You know how some people measure their lives by the passing of the seasons, the X's on a calendar, in coffee spoons? Well, lately it feels like I've been measuring my time by the passing of each clinical rotation, each month a chapter I'm eager to skim through. Just get through this, I tell myself, and then I will be free... until I hit the next "road block," that is. A cycle of stop and go, quiet and chaos, tension and relief. So it goes, they say, but I'm not so sure.
Lately we've been talking a lot about time... what it means to us, how little of it we have, what we'd like most to do with it. It's honestly a hard topic to breach when we're both busy with school, as there's certainly a restlessness to the conversation, a pent up energy that feels entrapped and purposeless. Anyhow, we've been talking, and we're trying to find a balance between spending time on things that need to be done and things that we want to do. That includes determining if large amounts of work is something we need to be doing or want to be doing--if not for now when we have less of a choice, then at least for the future.
Part of finding that balance is also becoming more mindful. How many hours am I wasting? How can I utilize my free time to doing something I enjoy but don't feel guilty or bad about afterwards? And when I'm doing something I have to do, how can I be more efficient? It's important to ask ourselves these questions, because speaking from personal experience, where our time goes affects our happiness.
JORD's Luxury Wooden Watch certainly doesn't solve all our problems, but it's a start. I was happy to receive a men's watch for Mike (in addition to my own women's watch) so that I could write this post and take these photos with Mike. He loves the Chronograph details and the dark tones of the burgundy and sandalwood. It looks sleek and classic (honestly, I'm a little jealous). Now that we both have these watches, we're starting to become more aware of where our time goes and whether or not that's how we want to be spending it. It's up to us to go from there.
